Screening for cervical cancer with a pap smear is an important part of staying healthy. Managing women with abnormal smears is an area Dr Hugo specialises in. Whilst the majority of women with an abnormality will not have a cancer, it is important that precancerous conditions are well managed to prevent future disease.
Colposcopy is an examination of the cervix and vagina using a specially designed microscope called a colposcope. It allows abnormal areas of the cervix to be identified and tested.
Dr Hugo is a member of The Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and participates in CQuIP, the colposcopy quality and certification program in Australia.
